Íarnród Éireann aiming to provide regular hourly service between Tralee and Mallow

Íarnród Éireann says its aim is to provide a regular hourly service between Tralee and Mallow.

The rail operator announced that last year demand on the Tralee to Cork and Dublin services increased by more than eight per cent to over 962,000 journeys.

Irish Rail says this is a record.

Barry Kenny is spokesperson for Íarnród Éireann.

He says Kerry will benefit from a €1.8 billion investment in Cork’s commuter rail network.

Barry Kenny of Irish Rail told Kerry Today’s Jerry O’Sullivan of further plans which should benefit the train service in Kerry.

This is an update and correction to an earlier version which wrongly stated that Íarnród Éireann was aiming to provide a one-hour journey time for services between Tralee and Cork.
