A 29-year-old Hungarian man is to be sent forward to Tralee Circuit Criminal Court on animal cruelty charges.
Richard Daroczi, previously of 15 Ely O’Carroll Place, Nenagh, Co Tipperary was served with the book of evidence against him last week.
He’s accused of stealing a sheep in lamb and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal near Killarney in January.
Mr Daroczi is charged with stealing an in-lamb ewe sheep worth €500, the property of Con O’Riordan, on January 5th at Cummeenabrick, Clonkeen.
At the same place and on the same date, he’s also charged with two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal under the Animal Health and Welfare Act.
The fourth charge in the book of evidence against him is the theft of €20 worth of fuel from O’Briens in Glenflesk also on January 5th.
Mr Daroczi appeared in person at Tralee District Court last week, where his solicitor Pádraig O’Connell confirmed the book of evidence had been served on him.
Mr O’Connell said there is a provision made for his client to be sent forward for trial or on a signed guilty plea, and he needs to take instructions from his client on the next course of action, now that the book has been served.
Mr Daroczi was remanded to this Wednesday, for sending forward to the Circuit Court either for trial or on a signed plea.
Judge David Waters certified for a Hungarian interpreter to be present on that date.
