A residential development site in the heart of Killarney town has gone on the market.
The 15.3 acre (6.194 ha) land bloc has already been granted planning permission for 224 new homes consisting of a mix of houses, duplexes and apartments.
An Bord Pleanála granted permission for the Large-Scale Residential Development (LRD) at Port Road and St Margaret’s Road last November.
It had previously refused an application on the same site due to potential impacts on the lesser horseshoe bat.
The selling agent on behalf of Portal Asset Holdings, Savills Ireland's Cork office, has suggested a €9.5 million price tag.
This equates to over €42,400 (€42,411) per housing unit.
Peter O'Meara of Savills Ireland says it's exceptionally rare for a ready-to-go property like this to become available, especially in Killarney where planning is severely restricted.
He says that, despite going on the market just this week, it is already generating interest.
The planning permission allows for 76 houses: 30 four-bedroom semi-detached, ten three-bed semis, 28 three-bedroom townhouses, and eight two-bed townhouses; and 148 one-, two- and three-bed apartments and duplexes.
It also includes a creche with a play area for 46 children, 320 car spaces and parking for 350 bicycles.
