Gardaí have upgraded their enquiries into the discovery of a woman's body in Killarney to a murder investigation.
The body of 43-year-old Jamey Carney was found at her home on the Muckross Road yesterday afternoon; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination on Ms Carney's remains has now been completed by the State Pathologist, Dr Linda Mulligan.
Gardaí say the results of this post-mortem are not being released for operational reasons, however they have now upgraded this investigation to a murder investigation.
An Garda Síochána says the scene at Muckross Road remains preserved, and a technical examination of the scene is continuing.
A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been set up at Killarney Garda station.
Garda are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
