Councillors seek increased early intervention for mental health supports in Kerry

Councillors will write to the HSE seeking increased early intervention for mental health supports in Kerry.

It follows a motion tabled at the recent full meeting of Kerry County Council, by Sinn Féin councillor Paul Daly.

He also urged for the expansion of services for school councillors and mental health supports to be provided by trained professionals.

Cllr Daly said young people find it difficult to access supports and services outside of school times and teachers need to be supported.

He added there has been a huge reduction in attendance to mental health supports since Covid.

The motion was seconded by Sinn Féin councillor, Deirdre Ferris.
