The Cathaoirleach of Killarney Municipal District has denied that local councillors are afraid to make difficult decisions.
Cllr Martin Grady was speaking after a vote was deferred on the proposed development of 139 car park spaces at Green Lawn.
He says there are valid concerns over the development, with 85% of 45 submissions during public consultation objecting to the proposal.
At the same meeting eleven days ago, councillors also voted against the redevelopment of Áras Phádraig, despite originally backing it earlier this year.
Cllr Grady believes Killarney is underfunded and the decisions show long-term thinking.
