Ireland 8th in relay/Hockey team out

Ireland have finished in eighth place in the mixed 4-by-400-metres mixed relay team Olympics final.

Sophie Becker, Phil Healy, Cillin Greene and Christopher O’Donnell were competing in the maiden final of the event at the Games.

Poland secured gold in a new Olympic record time with the Dominican Republic second and the U-S-A third.

Ireland's women's team have missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the hockey at the Olympics.
