A 36-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling almost €90,000 (€89,417) from Bord Gáis at a Kerry business.
Ashwini Charla, of 6 School Road, Callinafercy, Milltown, appeared before Judge Alec Gabbett at Tralee Circuit Court.
She was charged with 54 counts of theft, all of which took place during a nine-week period in the summer of 2023 at Fexco on Iveragh Road, Killorglin.
Each of 54 counts related to a separate electronic transfer of funds from the account of Bord Gáis.
The payments varied in value from €660.14 to approximately €1,800.
The first electronic transfer was misappropriated during the week of 12-16 June 2023, while the final payment was stolen during the week of 17-21 August 2023.
Ms Charla was remanded on continuing bail until 6 October for call-over, at which point a sentencing date will be fixed.
Judge Gabbett expressed surprise at the undemanding nature of the bail conditions, particularly the absence of a requirement for Ms Charla to surrender her passport.
He did not, however, choose to amend them.
