A newly upgraded area of the playground in Tralee Town Park has been vandalised.
A mother was with her five-year-old son yesterday when they made the discovery.
A recently installed play structure, that resembles a tower or castle, was littered with alcohol bottles, cigarette butts, and a dirty mattress.
The area also smelt of urine.
Carol praises the council staff for their response and says they shouldn't be expected to police the playground every hour of the day.
The Tralee woman suggests the council remove the top of the structure so it's not possible to hide in it:
Kerry County Council responded that the Tralee Town Park caretaker inspects the park each morning and notifies the Tralee Municipal District staff of any issues or concerns requiring attention.
Their spokesperson continued "These matters are then addressed promptly by the Municipal District Team".
