US customers returning packages to Kerry business after realising they must pay Trump tariff

A Kerry business-owner has highlighted the realities of Donald Trump’s tariffs, with customers only now realising they are on the hook for the extra charges.

Ben Farr from Dingle Surf said several packages he sent to the United States from his store have been returned this week, with the tariff unpaid.

A 15% tariff has been applied to EU exports to the United States.

Ben Farr says he is only sending small items, but other businesses more reliant on the US will be hugely affected by returns from customers, who do not want to pay the tariff.

He says the system in general is not functioning as smooth as it did before the tariffs were imposed.
