University Hospital Kerry (UHK) has officially opened its new staff cycle hub.
The launch coincided with the hospital being awarded National Transport Authority (NTA) Smarter Travel Mark certification; the first Kerry institution to do so.
The mark recognises organisations which support active and sustainable commuting for their workforce, leading to a reduction in single-person car usage.
The Smarter Travel Mark plaque was presented to UHK representatives at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new staff cycle hub has secure parking for 40 bicycles, including cargo and adaptive bikes.
It's weather-protected and requires a staff swipe card to access.
Hospital manager and Head of Service at UHK, Mary Fitzgerald said they are proud to be the first in Kerry to receive the NTA Smarter Travel Mark, and that "the opening of this cycle hub is just the beginning of our commitment to sustainable travel and climate action".
