Two thirds of South Kerry Greenway to be open by end of next year
A section of the South Kerry Greenway due to open next week - the concrete slab will be a picnic stop along the route.

Two thirds of the South Kerry Greenway are set to be open by the end of next year.

Next Thursday, a further four kilometres of the greenway will open, from the official starting point at Glenbeigh on towards Mountain Stage, to add to the 3km already open at Kells.

The long-awaited greenway will initially stretch 27km between Glenbeigh and Cahersiveen, with around two thirds of that to be completed by the end of 2027.

The most complex section around Mountain Stage, which will feature the viaduct and tunnels, will be the last part to be completed, in 2029 or 2030.

Sean O’Sullivan is Senior Executive Engineer with Kerry County Council and Project Manager of the Greenway; he says this is not like any other greenway.
