The trial of Kerry humanitarian worker Seán Binder has resumed in Greece today.
Mr Binder, who grew up in Castlegregory, is one of 24 migrant rescue volunteers who are on trial in the Court of Appeal in Lesvos, Greece.
He faces charges including membership of a criminal organsation, money laundering, and smuggling (facilitation of irregular entry), and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
Mr Binder maintains his innocence, and Amnesty International says he only volunteered for a coastline search-and-rescue patrol for small boats in distress and to provide first aid.
An Amnesty spokesperson present in court says proceedings began around 9am Greek time, 7am Irish time, with witnesses giving evidence, while Seán Binder has taken the stand this morning.
Other defendants in the case are also taking the stand, with proceedings to resume after a break at 1:30pm Irish time.
