One area found to be not compliant with the health act 2007, was persons in charge.

It was noted the registered provider had not appointed a person in charge that met regulation requirements; the facility says the person in charge has since completed relevant modules - with QQI certification expected during February.

Governance and management was also found to be non-compliant.

HIQA said under a registration renewal application, senior management with responsibility for the centre were not included as persons participating in management.

Tralee Community Nursing Unit made assurances the person in charge would meet all required regulations in relation to this by February 12th.

Food and nutrition was the final category found to be non-compliant.

Inspectors noted food was delivered on specific days, resulting in limited choices for residents requiring textured diets.

In response the centre made assurances to review its choice of menus and the model of food preparation and delivery.

It also referenced plans to set up a food and nutrition committee to liaise with residents and other departments to ensure compliance and high standard choices.
