An incident on a train service to Tralee is one of nearly 150 attacks on passengers and staff reported to Irish Rail last year.
That's according to data released by Irish rail under Freedom of Information legislation and published in today's Irish Mail on Sunday.
There was an allegation of "inappropriate touching" on board the train on the rail service from Mallow to Tralee last Spring.
The 150 reported attacks include physical and sexual assault, lewd behaviour and hate incidents.
These reports are among over 1500 cases of antisocial behaviour or criminal activity that occurred on trains or in stations during 2024.
When contacted by Radio Kerry, Irish Rail acknowledged the concerns raised in the article published in the Irish Mail on Sunday, and stated that all reported incidents are investigated. They also stated that on recent years, Irish Rail has implemented a number of initiatives to enhance security, including increased CCTV coverage, and remain committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all those travelling on services.
