A Kerry county councillor has called for an immediate coastal safety audit be undertaken across Tralee Bay beaches.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Mikey Sheehy put forward the motion at the recent Tralee Municipal District meeting.
He said the local authority need to closely monitor coastal areas at risk of erosion.
Cllr Sheehy added that signs need to be put in place at Derrymore beach asking people to refrain from driving on the dunes.
He said significant damage is being caused to the beach and that Kerry County Council need to put preventative measures in place.
