Traffic arrangements have been put in place for the funeral of Michael Gaine.
Mr Gaine went missing from his home in Kenmare on March 20th and his case was upgraded to a homicide investigation in late April.
Almost two weeks ago Gardaí confirmed that human remains, which were found on his farm, were identified as those of Michael Gaine.
Michael’s family have thanked people for their support and understanding at this extremely difficult time.
Large crowds are expected to attend the popular farmer’s funeral over the coming two days.
Mr Gaine’s remains are reposing in Finnegan’s Funeral Home in Kenmare from 2pm today, with rosary at 7pm.
His Requiem Mass will take place at 10.30 tomorrow in Holy Cross Church, Kenmare; it’ll be live streamed.
Gardaí are asking everyone attending Mr Gaine’s removal and funeral to use the designated car parks and walk a short distance to reduce traffic in the town.
Anyone with disabilities or mobility issues is being asked to make themselves known to the stewards and they’ll provide help.
Until 7pm there will be local access only to Springwell Cottages, Cromwell Court and Tubrid from the N71 Killarney Road.
Vehicular access will be granted to residents and those with mobility issues attending Finnegan’s Funeral Home.
Additional parking will be made available in The Old Factory on Railway Road until 7.30pm.
Tomorrow, additional parking will be available from 8.45am until 1.30pm at St John’s National School and the Old Factory on Railway Road, as well as at Kenmare Shamrocks GAA in Killowen, Kenmare.
There is a public car park across from Holy Cross Church, however, spaces are limited.
