Work is underway on three projects in the Killarney Municipal District area to tackle climate change.
The community projects have received money from the Community Climate Action Fund.
The Torc Community and Family Resource Centre in Ballyspillane was granted almost 43,000 euro (€42,575.00) to undertake solar and biodiversity works.
Spa GAA got nearly 31,000 euro (€30,989.00) for solar panels.
While, the Killarney Innovation Centre received a total allocation of over 26,000 euro (€26,103.00) to install solar panels and improve biodiversity.
So far, roughly 16% of the MD’s allocation has been drawn down.
The Community Climate Action Fund supports small and large, rural and urban communities implement measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to climate change, and promote environmental sustainability.
Instead of waiting for national or global policies, local governments, businesses, and individuals take direct action in their own areas.
