A teenager has pleaded guilty to producing machetes during an assault in Tralee last September.
The boy, who cannot be identified as he is a juvenile, appeared before a Child and Family Agency court sitting in Killarney yesterday.
His guilty plea was noted, and he has been granted bail subject to strict conditions.
The 17-year-old admitted to assault, the production of two machete knives during the assault, and possession of two machetes, all arising from the one incident in Monavalley, Tralee, last September.
At the Child and Family Agency court sitting in Killarney, Judge David Waters noted his guilty plea, and admitted the boy to bail subject to strict conditions.
The boy, who was represented in court by solicitor Pádraig O’Connell, is to attend probation service appointments, and engage in any offence-focused work.
He must also complete any knife-crime programmes recommended to him, engage in education and training supports, and attend addiction services.
The teenager must also reside at accommodation which has been provided for him and follow all rules and directions of Tusla.
Judge Waters indicated he is not currently considering a custodial sentence, and remanded him on bail to 25th February.
