Swimmer rescued from the water at O'Carroll's Cove this afternoon

Rescue services attended the scene at O'Carroll's Cove, Derrynane this afternoon, where a man in his '60s was pulled from the water.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public around 4.25pm, when a swimmer appeared to be struggling in the water.

The National Ambulance Service helicopter - Heli Med One - was tasked to the area, along with the Iveragh Coastguard Unit and Derrynane CRBI.

The rescue operation was co-ordinated by Valentia Coastguard.

The man who got into difficulties was Ukrainian and was staying in the area.

It's understood he may have suffered a cardiac episode, but is reported to be in a stable condition.
