A statue has been unveiled in Leinster House to commemorate Daniel O’Connell.
The 19th-century Kerry-born politician led the campaign for Catholic emancipation and is remembered as one of Ireland’s most influential political figures.
In August, a formal State ceremony took place at Derrynane House to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of The Liberator.
The sculpture, which was created in 1932 by Andrew O’Connor, was donated to the Houses of the Oireachtas by Bank of Ireland.

The statue will sit on Kildare Street and was unveiled by Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy.
