Over 560 applicants are on the social housing waiting list in the Castleisland MD area.
That’s according to figures provided at the recent Municipal District meeting.
Social housing units are sought by 565 applicants in the Castleisland Municipal District.
That figure includes applicants who have indicated Castleisland as one of their three areas of choice.
322 are awaiting one bed units; 150 applications have been made for two-bed homes; and 82 are on the list for three-bed units.
10 applicants are awaiting four-bed houses, while one is on the list for a five-bed home.
Excluding transfers from other MD areas - 356 applicants are awaiting social housing within the Municipal District.
There are currently five vacant units in the Castleisland MD; of these two are under repair and unallocated; two dwellings are awaiting repairs; while one unit is repaired and awaiting allocation.
In total within the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD 1,174 applicants are awaiting social housing.
