HSE South West Disability Services has confirmed that the principal of St Francis Special School has formally contacted the management of St John of God Services.
The communication relates to a proposal to develop new adult day services and respite facilities on the grounds of St Mary of the Angels in Whitefield, Beaufort.
This follows earlier advice from HSE South West, which recommended that principal Keith Ó Brolacháin and representatives of the school’s parent community first approach St John of God Services with their plans.
HSE South West has also confirmed it has received supporting documentation about the proposal from Mr Ó Brolacháin.
The update was delivered at the Regional Health Forum, where Sinn Féin councillor for Tralee, Deirdre Ferris, raised the issue.
