HSE South West has announced a new hydrotherapy service will begin at MTU Kerry at the end of the month (May 2025).
The update was shared with the Regional Health Forum after it was raised by Tralee Fianna Fáil councillor Mikey Sheehy.
A community-based physiotherapist will lead the pool-based rehabilitation programme at Munster Technological University.
The service will target clients with specific musculoskeletal (MSK) needs who are currently on the outpatient department (OPD) waiting list.
The therapy will be delivered in small groups, focusing on aquatic exercise and balance improvement.
Its primary goal is to help participants build confidence in using the pool for rehabilitation and to support the independent management of chronic musculoskeletal conditions over time.
