Speed limit signage on approach to a busy crossroads in North Kerry is causing confusion among motorists.
That’s according to Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council and Listowel MD councillor Michael Foley.
Cllr Michael Foley tabled a motion at the recent Listowel Municipal District meeting asking Transport Infrastructure Ireland to look at the speed limits at the Six Crosses on the N69.
He claims it’s confusing for motorists because he says there’s a sign warning you are approaching a 60km/h zone, then he says the road has an 80km/h sign next and then it drops to 60km/h when passing the Six Crosses junction.
He says motorists aren’t sure what speed they should be driving at on this stretch of road.
Cllr Foley says TII needs to decide if the road is 60 or 80km/h at this point.
Kerry County Council says it has examined the issue.
It says measures will be undertaken to reduce confusion between actual speed limit signs and the speed limit ahead signs when travelling southwards.
