Six IPAS residents and their families have departure from Cahersiveen delayed

Radio Kerry understands that six IPAS residents in Cahersiveen who’re studying in the town have had their departure delayed.

This also includes their families.

Radio Kerry understands this is due to take place at 2pm.

The Department of Justice which oversees accommodation for asylum seekers had announced that most of the current residents of Skellig Star accommodation centre in Cahersiveen were to move today to other IPAS accommodation - around 159 people.

A new group of international protection applicants would then be moved to the centre in Cahersiveen.
