Senator says Kerry Airport must be central to Ireland’s aviation future

Kerry Airport must be central to Ireland’s aviation future.

That’s according to Independent Senator Aubrey McCarthy, who says the national aviation strategy is ignoring regional airports.

He told the Seanad that the Farranfore airport must play a greater role given its capacity and infrastructure.

It comes as debates in the upper house of the Oireachtas centre on the Dublin Airport Passenger Capacity Bill 2026.

Senator McCarthy believes there is too much focus on Dublin Airport, when runways like in Kerry are sitting under-used.
