A case of scabies has been diagnosed at University Hospital Kerry.
Scabies is an easily spread skin condition passed from person to person by skin-to-skin contact.
Symptoms include intense itching and a rash that usually spreads across the whole body, apart from your head.
The HSE South West says this single case was acquired in the community and stressed that UHK currently does not have a scabies outbreak.
In line with HSE protocol, all contacts of that case in UHK were informed by the hospital and were advised on preventative treatment.
