The Rose of Tralee festival has released a statement condemning the racist abuse suffered by the newly-crowned Dublin Rose.
Suad Mooge, who was born in Sligo to Somalian parents, has received widespread negative comments on social media, primarily on X.

Festival Chief Executive Anthony O'Gara described her as an exceptional and accomplished woman, who was chosen by her community from 38 other contestants.

He said the festival unequivocally condemns the racism and abuse directed at Suad, adding that everyone was looking forward to welcoming her to Tralee.
