The road has been reopened following a fatal collision on the N22 near Dromadeesirt outside Killarney.
The incident occurred around 6.40 yesterday evening and involved 2 cars.
One of the drivers, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been removed to the local mortuary where a postmortem will take place in due course.
The driver of the other car, a man in his 30s, was treated for non- life threatening injuries and no other injuries have been reported.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling on the N22 near Dromadeesirt between 6:20 and 6:50 yesterday evening are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
