A recent unannounced inspection at Riverside Nursing Home in Abbeydorney found the service provides a strong human rights-based approach to care.
That’s according to the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), which conducted a thematic inspection in March (31 March 2025).
The purpose of such inspections is to improve residential care by focusing on specific areas, in this case, the use of restrictive practices.
The inspector found the home promotes a restraint-free environment, supporting residents’ independence and quality of life.
Residents and relatives praised the staff and management, noting that concerns were quickly addressed.
