It’s reported that the person of interest in the Jamey Carney murder investigation has been detained in Jordan.
Ms Carney, who was in her 40s, was found dead in her home in Killarney last week, with the case upgraded to a murder investigation on Wednesday.
28-year-old, Ahmad al-Saqar, is a person of interest to the investigation, it’s understood he has been detained by Jordan’s Public Security Directorate.
American native Jamey Carney was found dead at her home at the Homelands estate on the Muckross Road last Tuesday, July 7th.
The 43-year-old mother of one was originally from the Westchester County area of New York state, but has lived in Kerry for around five years.
Gardaí are seeking to speak with a person of interest in relation to the murder of Ms Carney.
It’s understood, 28-year-old Ahmad Al-Saqar, who was known to Ms Carney, travelled to the Middle East, via Turkey.
The Irish Independent are reporting that he has been detained by Jordan’s Public Security Directorate.
Ireland and Jordan have no extradition treaty, but there is an agreement between the Arab nation and Ms Carney's home country of America.
