A village in North Kerry, which has won international awards for their determination to grow their community, is encouraging other
groups in the county to think big for their locality.
Eleven years ago, Asdee was downgraded from the status of village to a node development because of population decline.
Six years ago, in response, the people of Asdee developed a five-year community plan to revive the area and went on to win Ireland's first International Association of Facilitators (IAF) Facilitation Impact Award.
Treasurer of Asdee Community Development, Lorraine McElligot believes that many other communities in Kerry can follow in their footsteps but are unaware of help available.
Asdee Community Development Chairperson John Kennedy believes a positive outlook was key to their success.
