Kerry County Council was the only local authority nationally that started using Climate Action Team sub groups in 2023 and continued last year.
That’s according to the Local Government Climate Action Key Performance Indicators Report 2024.
Local Authority Climate Action Teams (CATs) were put in place to ensure climate actions were implemented and monitored from multiple operational and policy perspectives.
Last year, was the first year that all 31 local authorities nationally had their CATs operational.
The report shows that Kerry County Council CAT team member numbers have fallen since 2021; however, it has been using sub groups for the past two years.
According to the data there were eight members of the climate action team in place at the end of 2024.
The local authority began using CAT sub groups in 2023 and continued to consistently hold meetings last year.
The report shows one sub group meeting was held by members in Kerry in its first year, but this increased to six meetings last year.
