Several Radio Kerry Journalists have been shortlisted for the 2025 Justice Media Awards.
The awards recognise outstanding print, broadcast and online journalism that contributes to the public’s understanding of justice, the legal system and access to justice issues.
The Justice Media Awards are the longest running media awards in Ireland.
This year's awards recognises broadcast and print media aired and published between March 2024 and February 2025.
Radio Kerry's Jerry O'Sullivan and Treasa Murphy have been nominated for their entry "For the Sake of Maia: A Bereaved Father’s Campaign to Hold Social Media Giants Accountable".
It details the campaign of Tralee native Liam Walsh, to get information from social media companies about harmful content which they believe may have contributed to the death of his 13 year old daughter Maia, as well as other children.
The powerful report has been nominated in the International Justice Reporting category.
In addition, Radio Kerry Journalist Emma McCarthy has been nominated for the Student Journalism award for The Limerick Voice's cover of the "Justice for Joe" Campaign.
The campaign refers to the ongoing efforts by the family and friends of Joe Drennan, a University of Limerick journalism student, to seek a more severe sentence for his killer, following the hit and run in October 2023.
The awards will take place at the Law Society of Ireland, Blackhall Place in June.
