Permission is being sought to build 64 houses in Kenmare.
The 2.6-hectare site, at Gortamullen, Molahiffe, is currently for agricultural use.
The proposal includes the demolition of three agricultural sheds to allow for the construction of 64 residential dwellings, car parking, and landscaping.
The applicant, Enda Crowley, intends to develop eight four-bedroom detached houses, 46 three-bedroom semi-detached houses, and ten two-bedroom semi-detached houses.
He is also seeking permission to build 129 car parking spaces for the 64 homes, and to create a new entrance from the N70 Sneem Road for both vehicles and pedestrians.
The development would require a new connection to the public water mains and to the public sewer.
It is proposed that construction would be carried out in a single phase, Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm, and between 8am and 2pm on Saturdays.
No construction would take place on Sundays or public holidays without prior approval from Kerry County Council.
HW Planning, based in Ballincollig, Cork, is acting as the planning agent for the proposal, while Daniel O’Mahony of Meitheal Architects prepared the design and drawings.
This is not the first time the site has been considered for housing.
Patrick A. McEnroe withdrew a previous planning application to build residential units there in 2004.
The last date for submissions is the 29th of this month.
