Permission is being sought to build 27 houses in a north Kerry town.

Local developer AGC Ventures Ltd, trading as Atlantic Golf Construction, has applied to Kerry County Council for permission to build the houses on the 1.62 hectare Ballybunion site.

The development on Church Road in Ballybunion would consist of six one-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom houses, 15 three-bedroom houses and four four-bedroom houses.

The green-field site is located behind St John’s church and The Sands housing estate.

New mains water and public sewer connections would be required.

An earlier application for 33 homes in the seaside town underwent the pre-validation stage last August, but those plans have now been revised down to 27 houses.

Gerard McGrath of Project Design Building Consultants is serving as the project’s architect.

The development would be exempt from the need to provide social housing.

Submissions on the application must be submitted by the 15th April (2025) and Kerry County Council is due to issue its decision by the 6th of May.
