Cigarettes and tobacco valued at over €560,000 (€568,781) has been seized by the South Frontier Management Branch of the Revenue Commissioners in the first half of 2025.
The branch, which covers counties Kerry, Cork, Clare and Limerick, impounded over 460,000 (467,673) cigarettes and 166kgs of tobacco in 647 separate seizures.
Nationwide, over 3,500 (3,527) seizures of tobacco products took place between January 1st and June 30th of this year, with a total value of almost €56 million euro (€55,876,475)
The figures were provided by Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe, following a query from Fine Gael TD Emer Currie.
