Over 5,700 (5,751) dog licences were issued in Kerry in the first five months of this year.
That represents a drop of over 7% (7.2%) during the same period last year, when more than 6,200 (6,203) dog licences were issued in the county.
Figures compiled by Kerry County Council, show that 25 fines relating to dogs were issued between January and May.

The council also rehomed 34 dogs as of the end of May.
