Over 1,700 people in Kerry in receipt of jobseekers allowance for more than 12-months

1,702 people in Kerry have been in receipt of jobseekers allowance for 12-months or more.

These figures don’t include casual jobseekers who work up to three days a week while receiving the payment.

The figures, which cover up to the start of May, show nationally, 47,764 people are in receipt of jobseekers allowance for more than a year.

The figures were provided by Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary after a question by Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea recently.
