Just over 13% (13.4%) of votes from the Kerry constituency presidential election vote were spoiled.
In total just over 7,000 votes were spoiled, over twice the amount of votes given to withdrawn Fianna Fáil candidate, Jim Gavin.
The Catherine Connolly campaign in Kerry conducted a tally of 300 spoilt votes as a representative.
Of these, around 88% of the votes were genuinely spoiled.
However, around 10% of the spoiled votes contained more extreme sentiments critical of the government, the candidates and the candidate selection process.
According to nationwide tallies, it seems there were an unprecedented number of spoiled votes.
It's estimated that up to 10% of those who voted across the country may have spoiled their votes.
