Met Éireann has issued an orange thunderstorm warning for Kerry this evening.
The national meteorological service has put the warning in place from 4 o'clock this afternoon until seven.
It states that thunderstorms will likely develop in Kerry, Cork and Waterford
The public is told to expect heavy downpours leading to flooding in places, lightning damage, hail, very gusty winds and hazardous driving conditions.
Kerry County Council is appealing to members of the public to be vigilant during a period of rapidly evolving weather conditions.
The council says in the event of heavy downpours, motorists should slow down and travel with care.
It says given the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning, beach-goers and swimmers should avoid the water during the weather warning.
