Over a four-year period, the Bon Secours private hospital in Tralee received almost €25 million under the National Treatment Purchase Fund.
The figures were released to Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly and cover the period from 2021 to 2024.
Bon Secours Tralee is one of five hospitals within the private healthcare group of the same name.
The Tralee facility was the Bon Secours hospital that received the largest amount under the National Treatment Purchase Fund, marginally ahead of Bon Secours Dublin.
The National Treatment Purchase Fund arranges treatment for patients on a public hospital waiting list, by availing of public and private healthcare systems.
University Hospital Kerry has an arrangement with the Bon Secours in Tralee which includes public patients being transferred to inpatient beds at the private hospital.
In 2021, Bon Secours Tralee received almost €2.8 under the National Treatment Purchase Fund, in 2022, over €7.3m, the hospital got almost €6.4m under the NTPF in 2023, and nearly €8.2m in 2024 – totalling almost €24.7m.
Over the same period from 2021 to 2024, Bon Secours Dublin got just over €24.6m, Bon Secours Galway almost €7.5m, Bon Secours Cork nearly €7.4m, and Bon Secours Limerick almost €2.9m.
During this four-year period, the five hospitals within the Bon Secours group received over €67m through the National Treatment Purchase Fund.
The response Deputy Pa Daly got from Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill says the data relates to patient care expenditure from 2021 to 2024.
