Over half of the 261 boxes have been opened and tallied so far, at the presidential election count for the Kerry constituency at the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre.
Boxes have now been opened from all polling stations from Tralee, Killarney, Beaufort, Ardfert, Kenmare, Castleisland, Gelncar, Killorglin, Knocknagoshel, Caherdaniel, Ballyduff, Ballyheigue, Ballybunion and Caherciveen.
At this point, this is how votes are tallying, according to the Catherine Connolly campaign team in Kerry.
- Independent Catherine Connolly, at 62.32%,
- Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys, at 29.84%
- Fianna Fáil's Jim Gavin, at 7.82%
According to the tallies so far, it's estimated that around 16% of the votes are spoiled votes.
The first official count is expected to be underway by 12.30.
So far it's estimated that there was a voter turnout of around 40%, in line with reported national averages.
