A lot of women in Ireland don't feel safe.
That's according to the executive director of the National Women's Council, Corrine Hasson.
She was speaking after the latest case of femicide in Ireland, when 43-year-old mother of one, Jamey Carney, was murdered at her home on the Muckross Road on Tuesday.
Eight women have been killed in Ireland in the first seven months in 2026, the same number as in the entirety of 2025.
She stated that one-in-three women in Ireland will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes, while half will experience sexual violence.
Ms Hasson says more supports are needed:
The 24-hour national freephone helpline, Women’s Aid, may be reached at 1800 341 900, while the National Male Advice Line is contactable at 1800 816 588.
