A special school in North Kerry has received initial approval for an upgrade project.
The Department of Education gave the project at Nano Nagle Special National School on Ballybunion Road in Listowel the green light.
Special schools provide education for children with significant, complex special educational needs.
They are designed for students who require a highly specialized environment and for whom a mainstream classroom is not in their best interest.
Nano Nagle Special School, Listowel has received the initial project approval under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) Scheme.
The project has been described as “repurposing works providing ancillary facilities”
The announcement has been welcomed by Kerry TDs Michael Healy Rae, Danny Healy- Rae, and Michael Cahill.
