The first baby to be born in UHK in 2026 is a boy who arrived at 3.22 this morning.

Louie Kurian Johns is the first child of Emil Emmanuel and John Kurian who live in Tralee.

Louie's mother Emil is a nurse at University Hospital Kerry.

Emil says she and her husband John are delighted that Louie whose due date was yesterday was born on New Year's Day.

She says it's extra special that her son was born in the hospital she works in.
