The mother of a 15-year-old Tralee boy who had to undergo three scoliosis operations this summer believes Children's Health Ireland should be disbanded.
Daniel Collins was originally scheduled for one operation but needed two further procedures because he had been waiting so long - since February 2024.
The HSE recruited a new spinal surgeon last month (August) but Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll-McNeill says the HSE failed to recruit more.
She says the health service needs to find more spinal surgeons to work in Ireland.
