A Kerry mother is calling on the government and HSE to take immediate action to ensure her son gets urgently needed scoliosis surgery.
Louise Collins’s son Daniel was diagnosed with scoliosis in July 2023, when his spine curvature was at 22%.
He was listed for surgery in February last year, but the family have been waiting since.
A scan last week on the 14-year-old, who’s from Tralee, shows that his spine curvature is now at 95%; and that he will require two surgeries.
The family has set up a petition to present to the Dáil calling for surgery immediately and to prevent further irreversible damage to his health.
