There is an urgent need for safety measures on the mountain road between Mountain Stage and Rossbeigh, known locally as The Ballagh Road.
That's according to Kenmare Municipal District councillor Tommy Cahill, who says the narrow mountain route has become increasingly busy with camper vans and oversized vehicles.
While Kerry County Council have confirmed gradient warning signs will be installed as an immediate step, Cllr. Cahill says more is needed.
He has suggested the inclusion of restrictions on unsuitable traffic and clearer advance signage.
He warned that waiting for a major accident before acting would be unacceptable.
